Thanks for the comment! In answer to yo...Hi Mark,

Thanks for the comment! In answer to your questions:

- There was no discussion about the Padres budget for 2011. The audience didn't ask the question and Mr. McLeod didn't volunteer any information.

- No specific international signings were brought up, nor any players the Padres might be interested in. His Japanese posting comments lampooned himself/the Boston organization for the $50M+ they paid just to negotiate with Dice-K.

- Although not specifically addressed on Saturday, I suspect the Padres will not let their state-of-the-art facilities in the Dominican go to waste. McLeod seemed genuinely enthusiastic about the players in the Padres system today who graduated from the academy, so I believe that success will mean the team remains willing to spend money for good Latin players - be it via salary or bonus.Mikehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12834783703709709964noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5325217338696855922.post-50476788181856771702011-02-01T10:24:50.602-08:002011-02-01T10:24:50.602-08:00Mike,
Thanks for the longer review and for Geoff ...Mike,

Thanks for the longer review and for Geoff at Ducksnorts for throwing everyone this way. Sounds like McLeod gave a nice talk, it seems the new staff is more willing to engage in meaningful conversation than the old staff was. KT always talked a lot and the rumor mill was full, but the content always seemed suspect.

Did he mention their budget or anything else about international signings? Does having the best facility in the Dominican make them more likely to continue putting money into bonuses for latin players?Markhttp://www.uncorkedventures.comnoreply@blogger.com
